For the majority of children in El Salvador, health care is very expensive and therefore inaccessible. King’s Palace recently partnered with Dr. Romero to provide a medical clinic to the children of King’s Palace. All parents were required to accompany their child for the physical exams and to consent to lab work. King’s Palace had an almost perfect participation rate among the children and their families! The results of the blood work indicated that all the children were infected with parasites; most likely due to drinking contaminated water. Dr. Romero accumulated and distributed samples of antibiotics and King’s Palace purchased the remaining medicine needed for the children. The children are now on their way to recovery. We are grateful to Dr. Romero for his willingness to work with King’s Palace at a reduced rate and for you, our faithful donors, for providing this much needed service to the children at no cost to them!

“I love my new school. It’s safe”. “I don’t have to fight off menacing threats to join a gang” “The teachers encourage you and expect you to learn!” - King’s Palace children attending their new school. On January 18, 2016, five children from King’s Palace began a new school year at a private Christian school. As the children boarded the shuttle bus, they were eager, nervous and determined to take advantage of this new opportunity. Over the past few weeks a sense of purpose, importance, and privilege has become apparent in these five children. It is amazing to see the potential of these kids coming to fruition and the inspiration this is to the other children at King's Palace. Children are imagining a life that does not include a gang, incarceration or early death. Parents are daring to dream a life of education and purpose for their children. These children face obstacles and challenges that most of us cannot comprehend; yet they are determined to achieve. Please join us in praying for the children of King's Palace and for the journey they have just begun. We pray for success!! Thanks to our generous donors, the children were able to start school with the needed supplies. King's Palaces provides breakfast to the children before school and a meal upon their return. Ready for the day! Ed Maldonado helps the children understand and complete their home work. Ed and Bersy love and encourage the children on a daily basis.
On behalf of the children and staff at King's Palace, THANK YOU for your continued support and for making our Christmas amazing. According to Ed and Bersy Maldonado, who run King's Palace, the children were in complete shock and disbelief. Many received toys (an extreme luxury) for the first time in their lives! Pure elation, excitement and gratitude spilled from within each child. Mothers cried tears of joy as the children shrieked and danced with excitement. Even teenage girls were enamored with their dolls- a possession they had long given up hope of ever owning. The best part is that the children wanted to spend the majority of their party time praising and thanking God for His blessing and for YOU, their generous American friends. During devotions, they concluded that “Presents are awesome but Jesus is still the best gift. He’s ours forever”. That day their devotion time lasted over an hour, at their request, and they only stopped because it was time to enjoy a special dinner. There was such a surplus of gifts that King's Palace was able to share toys with surrounding impoverished communities. Additionally, they kept a small stash of toys to give the children on their birthdays! (again, a first!) Christmas Dinner The children and staff enjoyed a meal of hamburgers, french fries, soda and cake. This was the first time any of them had ever tasted these foods. EVER. (Such food in El Salvador is only for the affluent.) All gave it two thumbs up. |
